It is wintertime,
but the first taste of spring swirls around the atmosphere.
It can almost be considered evening,
and nature is giving me a reason to smile.
The dark bust of a business cycle is over,
and the sun comes out with a boom.
Children ride their bikes as employment,
and birds chirp their melodic tunes.
There's nothing quite like a day that makes you smile,
when there's nothing particularly new.
Just shadows from the light,
and rays illuminating dust on the furniture.
There's work to be done,
but it doesn't feel quite like work,
cause I keep looking outside and smiling.
There's coffee,
but then again,
there's always coffee.
And some pie, too.
And even though the governor has resigned,
and politics are raging,
and prejudice seems mounting,
and inequality's not stealthy,
everything's gonna be alright.
