There is beauty in simplicity.
In unadorned hair and ring-less fingers;
racing raindrops and flickering candles;
glass made from lightning as it strikes sand;
wild oceans and flooded rivers;
sandy streams and rolling hilltops;
somebody saying they thought of you the other day;
piping hot tea and strong coffee;
musty pages and sweet perfume;
and friends talking late into the night.
We must condition ourselves,
for it does not always come naturally,
to appreciate each simple thing.
Remembering that not every puddle
should be compared to the sea.
Sometimes a thing,
a small thing,
is beauty in its simplicity.
